You can see the drawing steps that the tutorial is broken up into in the example above. There will also be some extra examples of different color variations at the end.

Start the drawing in pencil with light lines that you can easily erase. You may also want to have a thin black marker or a black pen handy to trace over them before coloring.

Step 1 – Draw the Middle Section of the Bell Pepper

Begin by drawing the middle section of the bell pepper (the one that we will be looking at directly in this case).

Make it narrower towards the tip and wider toward the back/stem. It’s shape does not need to be symmetrical but try and keep the curves fairly smooth.

Step 2 – Add the Sides

Add two more sections to each side of the middle one. Again make them slightly narrower towards the tip. Also try and draw each one to be somewhat similar in size to the other but at the same time make them slightly different in shape.

Step 3 – Add the Stem & Finish the Line Drawing

Coming out of the back add the stem. Make it wider towards it’s base then narrower in the middle and wider again towards the end so that it kind of looks like it has a little cap.

Once done with the stem make sure that your are happy with the way your drawing looks and trace over it with a black pen or marker. If you don’t have one around you can also simply darken your lines with the pencil.

Step 4 – Color the Bell Pepper

You can color the pepper using any medium you like such as paints, colored pencils or markers. You will also want to leave a few highlight when coloring the pepper to show that it has a smooth and reflective surface. To help yourself not accidentally color over them you can very lightly outline these areas in either a regular pencil or a colored pencil of the color you wish to use.

Generally the stem will be a yellow/green. Common colors for the pepper itself are red, green or orange. You can see the example of the red pepper above.

Once you color the larger areas you can also optionally very lightly shade the highlights with whatever color you chose to for the pepper.

Green is another common color for a bell pepper. If this is the color you chose try and make the green of the pepper darker than the color of the stem.

The last example is the (possible) slightly less common is an orange bell pepper.

Conclusion

This tutorial showed an easy way to draw a bell pepper and provided some common colors bell peppers tend to come in. Hopefully you’ve picked one you like and had fun drawing and coloring.
