Step 1 – Draw the Outer Shape of the Pear

Start the drawing with a simple pencil outline of the pear. Keep the lines light so that you can easily erase them in case you make a mistake.

Pears are generally similar in shape to a light bulb with a somewhat round bottom portions and a cylinder like top. Keep this in mind when drawing the outer shape.

To make the pear look a little more natural and interesting you can also add a tiny indent at the very bottom middle its shape.

Step 2 – Draw the Petiole

For this step add a small wave like shape near the top tip of the pear and from it draw the petiole (part that attaches the pear to the branch). Draw the petiole wider towards its base and narrower towards the tip.

Step 3 – Add a Leaf

Now draw the leaf. You can add the main shape of the leaf with two curves and its middle sections (midrib/petiole) with two more sets of curved lines. The middle section should be wider towards its base and thinner towards the end. You can also add a tiny curve at its very base to join the who lines.

Step 4 – Finish the Line Drawing

To finish the line drawing of the pear add some veins to the leafs and go over the entire drawing with either darker pencil lines, pen or marker.

When drawing the veins try and place them in slightly different locations on each side of the midrib. The veins should curve towards the outer edges/tip of the leaf.

Step 5 – Color the Drawing

For some basic color simply fill the entire area of the pear (excluding a white spot for the highlight) with yellow and the leaf with green. You can use whatever coloring option you prefer to do this (paint, colored pencils, markers, etc…).

Step 6 – Add Some Gradient

Finally to make the pear look a little bit nicer you can use a colored pencil to add a small hint of red on one of its sides. Blend the red color to be darker towards the outer edge and lighter towards the middle (until it fades into the yellow).

Once done you should have a finished drawing of the pear.
